"THE MOON BELONGS TO EVERYONE" IS A PROJECT THAT PORTRAYS EQUALITY IN THE HUMAN EXPERIENCE.
MOON REPAIR SO ALL CAN USE
COLLAGE ON ART PAPER
The moon belongs to you.
Each day she climbed the ladder to the moon, dutifully, and without instruction.
Her going there was an act of kindness, a gesture of goodwill toward humanity- for however hard and impossible life can seem at times, the moon connects us on a higher level.
It can bridge distance between two yearning hearts, it can make you feel small but less alone, it can bring wonderment to bleak days.
So up she went and she polished the moon until it shone its very brightest, so that it’s glow would warm those who needed it- even on the coldest, darkest nights.
WE ARE ALL EQUALS. THE ONLY THING THAT WEDGES IN BETWEEN US ARE OUR FEARS AND OUR STARVATION.
Peace of the past, for me, means:
dealing with mistakes
sympathizing with all of the multi-layered emotions involved in how we got to this point
Standing on top of a building, looking down at the ground, terrifies me. Some say I have a fear of heights. To me, it is the idea that I, myself, am able to jump off.
I can be both:
A) the person that is in my stagnant physical body starring at the ground
B) the person that is in my active imaginative head about to land on the ground
these two conflicting points of view are choices I have, but they are not who I am
and REPA R
do not define you
Hope for the future, to me, means:
listening to multiple thought experiments
realizing there are no right answers, just interesting and plausible thoughts
hearing from all voices, especially ones that have been suppressed in recent history
listening to children- no matter what they are talking about- they hold unblurred truths that may teach you a lesson
continued apologies and sympathies until the receivers are healed
an openness of creativity and change
WE CANNOT ACHIEVE PEACE OF THE PAST OR HOPE FOR THE FUTURE BY STANDING ON THE BACKS OF SLAVES, PRETENDING THEY ARE STOOLS
playing pretend can hurt
OUR COMMON THREAD IS OUR HUMANITY
Who knew that a Moon Treaty exists?
It's such an impressive trophy of peace. But just like a trophy it has little meaning. Not many countries have signed it.
In some ways the moon equalizes us. We all have the same view, and a similar amount of time with the moon. We can choose to appreciate it, or choose to ignore it, but it is always around us.
place pun here:
The suit was fashioned to show wealth. The high heels were fashioned to keep men and women literally off of the streets, it was a sign of class to keep your britches clean. Evening dresses? A sign of class. The handbag? A sign of class.
But sneakers... they hold a sense of equality. Although it is one of the highest grossing fashion products and gaining in popularity and price, they are still all something we own. We can choose to ignore them, or we can choose to appreciate them- just as we do the moon.
We have sneakers like these Nike Waffle Racing Flat Moon Shoes that are worth more than my life, and then we have sneakers like these that cost the same as a Toronto brunch. There is definitely a class structure that has developed in the sneaker world, but they are still accessible to everyone.

it laughs in darkness
it laughs in darkness
it glows with pride
it seeks the clouds
when earth ought to hide
with the wisdom of the crow
and the stealthness of the fox
it shapes its expression
with the tenacity of the ox
it smiles then it sleeps
it’s serene then it plays
it rolls around it’s coop
pulling the ocean waves
it’s game of tug-o-war
does not stop with the sea
it’s presence pulls you in
it’s absence sets you free
at times it will curse
all the loved ones it holds dear
you would swear that it knows
all the secrets of this sphere
as soon as you see it
it fades all too soon
such a captivating expression
this face has a moon
